Needham, Joseph. Science & Civilisation in China Series. Cambridge University Press.

Author Joseph Needham was a British scientist and historian in the 20th century who was stationed in China during World War II. He studied the history of Chinese civilization and science extensively and authored many texts of significance. His wife Lu Gwei-djen is a contributing author to several of his publications.
